Letter to Reps on Proposed Carbon Tax
Here’s an excellent letter that was actually sent to several members of Congress. I plan to use it myself …
I am extremely concerned over legislation currently being considered by Congress, and I am absolutely terrified over HR 2454, and its potential impact on our economy and our way of life.
As you know, in recent years, alarmism has grown over perceived global warming, and people, both here in the US and around the world, have jumped to the conclusion that the cause is largely anthropogenic (i.e., man made). The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change put forth a report claiming that we’re essentially doomed, that we’ll all drown or be baked to death in an increasingly warm world, yet many of the “scientists” on that panel were not climate scientists–indeed, some were little more than political functionaries. Certain well-known, former politicians here in the US have flown around the world, telling those who would listen that the “planet has a fever,” and the media coverage of the entire circus has fueled what is fast becoming a hysterical reaction, especially as they all claim that the debate is over, the science settled. Those who claim the opposite risk their careers and livelihoods, and are quickly subjected to ridicule, labeled as little more than heretics.
In all of the reports we see, seldom do we hear that, in actuality, global temperatures have either remained stable since 1998, or even cooled. Those who publish images of retreating glaciers in one place often disingenuously fail to publish images of glaciers advancing in adjacent places. Where are the reports that show many climate measuring stations are located in cities’ heat islands? Where are the statistics that show many northern Siberian measuring stations, already in states of disrepair, were simply abandoned after the fall of the Soviet Union–a factor that certainly contributes to the recorded increase in average temperatures. October 2008, was reported as the warmest on record, at least until it was discovered that someone had simply copied September’s data into the boxes for October–yet we heard virtually nothing of that, either.
While it seems the consensus is that greenhouse gases (such as carbon dioxide) are causing the increases, some studies, when comparing periods of warming to the concentration of those gases in the atmosphere, indicate that the temperature increases preceded the increase in gas concentrations, quite the opposite of what we’re being told. If the increases in gas concentrations correlated directly to the rise in temperature, one would expect graphs overlaid would show very similar peaks and valleys–yet they do not. Interestingly, graphs of solar activity do line up with variations in temperature, yet we really don’t hear about those.
Clearly, the “science” is not settled, nor can it be, when it is based on data collected over only approximately 150 years. When compared to a life span of 80 years, that would amount to roughly 84 seconds. We would not presume to base such dire predictions on such a short time span when it comes to our lives, yet we’re doing precisely that when it comes to “saving the planet.” Certainly, human activity contributes to changes in climate, but we do not yet have enough data to state unequivocally that it is the primary cause of global warming.
We now find ourselves mere spectators as our elected representatives hover on the brink of yet another knee-jerk reaction, one that will not only increase the tax burden on every American, but will drive up the cost of every service or product we use. Indeed, as President Obama himself stated, under the plan now being considered, energy costs, for example, will “necessarily” sky-rocket.
It’s bad enough that, in just the last six months, those we elected to represent us have committed us to a life of perpetual servitude, brought on by the unbridled spending spree upon which government, at all levels, has embarked. Obama’s “sky-rocket” statement portends the demise of our economy, and the dismantling of one of the most important aspects of our security. This will happen, in no small part, because the people, already crippled by taxes that would have seen the Founders pining for a return to British rule, will necessarily start hoarding what little they have left.
Again, the science, despite the hysteria, is not settled and this legislation shall surely do far more harm than good. I am adamantly opposed to it and, as my representative, I respectfully demand that you oppose it, and I look forward to a response that indicates you have done so.

Very good letter. The unfortunate part of the picture is that the entire Congress, or the vast majority will not listen to their constituents. They continue to pass legislation that is specifically designed to crush the economy, jobs, and the free enterprise system in general. That we continue to allow the federal government to tread on the several states, is a travesty of justice and a mockery of the Constitution. The Hall of Shame is going to be very crowded after this Congress gets done dismantling the Republic. I am sure James Madison is spinning in his grave about now.
Representative Henry Waxman, the primary sponsor of the Cap & Trade bill was asked a question yesterday about his bill: “I certainly don’t claim to know everything that’s in this bill…” “I rely heavily on the scientists…”
Obviously, not only did he not write it, he did not read it. Who did either of these? And yet, our duly elected representatives will push to pass this, over the strenuous objections of their employers, WE the People.
Another candidate for the Hall of Shame. Waxman is not a Representative! Representatives, true representatives, represent their employers, We the People. Waxman represents his own self interests and is merely a professional politician who is totally out of tune with reality. He is nothing more than a duplicitous minion of his boss, the current resident of the White House. I am sure he has a placard on his office wall that says, “Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full”.
Regretable that we seem to have no representation in Congress. What was that famous line from 240 years ago? The one that enticed a late night tea party, and a revolution?
History has a way of repeating.
“Remember the Gaspee!” Now, there is one that should make the current resident of the White House sit up and pay attention. But, from what I can see, he knows absolutely nothing about the Will of the People and the resolve we have. He also probably knows nothing about American History, of course we won’t know until something happens to bring his records into full view.
Interesting as well that some of those currently beating the global warming drum not long ago were screaming about global cooling! Would seem they know not whereof they speak but rather just enjoy listening to themselves.
Nay, John, me thinks they are practicing. It takes a great deal of effort and practice to lie effectively and continuously. One must stand in front of a mirror and make conflicting statements with a practiced straight face. For example; while saying, “I don’t want to run banks, and I don’t want to run auto companies”, the prevaricator-in-chief acquires the banks and auto company, and then says, “Darn the luck”. After Tarp, the Stimulus Bill, and contemplating the Cap-and-Trade bill and the universal health care bill, Barry exclaims, “look at the economic problems I have inherited”. And think of this example. “My administration will be transparent and I will not keep anything from you”, he says as he pays his lawyers $1 Million to hide all of his records. Oh yes, it takes lots of practice John. And I must say, this administration continues to practice daily, just ask Nancy. Oh, never mind, she would just say she hasn’t received the briefing on lying, which would be a lie, because she has obviously practiced herself.
Undertaker, apparently you didn’t get the memo that the word “lie” is no longer allowed, much like terrorist and war on terror. We are now to refer to all promises, commitments and lies, clearly interchangeable in this administration, using the term Cognitive Retrieval Alteration Protocol, or CRAP.
Had to laugh at that one, John!
Oh, yes John, I did get the memo, but I skipped down to the part about the Special High Intensity Training that Barry was administering to Biden to get him to understand CRAP. So, Barry has been giving Biden SHIT about his CRAP. Did I do okay, there John?
LMAO!
Thanks to forum contributor, Thanks!
I didn’t know about this site. It’s verifying, humbling, and NECESSARY!
Thanks Truly and spread the word!
I’m a month late, but here I am….
Copied the letter and sent it to my reps in congress.
Thanks to whoever wrote it! It was EXCELLENT
Once the bill ends up going through the wringer, I don’t see it getting through the Senate…I can think of at least 4-5 centrist Dems that would join a filibuster.
It is a shame our avarage population is so easily misslead to believe without questioning for instead Al Gore sciance. He made his 100 mil dramatizing the global warming issue. I wish there were some people with means to make an efford to point out the facts of real sciance loudly to inform public to at least question. Hopefully there are some in congress and senate to protest the Cap&Trade.

Use this letter or your own, either way you MUST contact all of your state’s representatives, not just the one for your district. This is that important. Then contact your senators instructing them as your employee to vote NAY if HR 2454 passes the house. I have 14 of them here in Michigan, and you bet I’m sending my instructions as their employer to vote NAY, and to have a real debate on this issue, not a Gore controlled panel like has been done previously.

LOVE IT!! Very clever John, but I wouldn’t expect any but clever from you.
Has anyone read this: http://www.sliderontheblack.com/politics-money-and-markets/waxman-markley-cap-trade-bill/
It explains for me why this stupid bill is even up for vote. A new name for me is Maurice Strong, seems like the Canadian counter part of G Soros.
Arbogast – watched the vid on your post. Definitely a sign of the end when businesses have “learned” to keep their mouths shut (opinions to themselves)
This write-up gives the light in which we can observe the reality. this is very great 1 and gives indepth info. thanks for this good report
