Never Forget
One
by Cheryl Sawyer
As the soot and dirt and ash rained down,
We became one color.
As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building
We became one class.
As we lit candles of waiting and hope
We became one generation.
As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno
We became one gender.

As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength,
We became one faith.
As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement,
We spoke one language.
As we gave our blood in lines a mile long,
We became one body.
As we mourned together the great loss
We became one family.
As we cried tears of grief and loss
We became one soul.
As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heros
We become one people.
We are
One color
One class
One generation
One gender
One faith
One language
One body
One family
One soul
One people
We are The Power of One.
We are United.
We are America.

So you think that’s why the banks are changing their fee structure, OWS? Really? Couldn’t be pressure from, oh, maybe customers? Nah. It’s from a bunch of twenty-something’s trying to find themselves in the park. Yep, that’s it.
Seriously, you can’t really believe OWS is causing this. I know you aren’t that naive.

Of course i dont . But being the political opportunist i am i will usethe coincidence to my favor !
And i thought you guys said that business wont cave to consumers leaving if they add additional fees and such ? That when u add these regs it just makes things more expensive. Welp , it seems the people have won .it seems the new regulations are in place and the banks are gonna have to adjust to it , not just add fees. Thats the difference between us . U rghties cowtow to big business like an abused wife that keeps making excuses for the hubby. .us libs say say they must follow the rules and if they dont like it , too bad. Raise fees and lose customers . Thats capitalism .
Whew, I thought you’d lost it completely insteady of just mostly.
What was said, or at least what I said (sorry, I’m not part of your weird righty collective concept), is that these higher costs will be passed along to customers. If you read the articles, what is happening is that the fees will be recovered in another manner, not via the debit card fees. Something less obvious. Now what can happen, and to some extent it is happening, is that folks move to credit unions. Unfortunately not everyone has access to credit unions, and they can’t compete at all service levels. What I would not be surprised to see is a push for legislation to change that. Remember S&L’s?

I blame money for ruining this nation. Our congress continues to be bought no matter who is elected . We MUST get the money outta dc . There is no such thing as integrity in dc. We are all a product of capitalism. We are what the ruskies said we were in the eighties . Capitalist pigs , controlled by money not to be truzted . Our only hope is to make lawe forbiddng special interst money . Maximum contributions and all csndidates should get the same amount of money to run for office …
You know I agree on campaign finance, but I still think your anger is misdirected. Who creates the campaign finance laws to begin with? Chicken and egg I guess, but we elect people to protect the people and they don’t. Like it or not, corporations have no such obligation. They exist for their shareholders, not the country.

Why is it now that it’s okay for the banks to fail but it wasn’t before. Why wasn’t it okay for GM and Chrysler to fail? i guess because it was somebody you supposedly gave a shit about. You guys are a joke with your rants one way and then changing your diapers and swinging the other way. Figure out what the hell side you’re going to be on and stay there instead of circle jerking around. What a bunch of fools.
Where are people going to go? Competition between banks, as always, will create the winners and losers, but the Feds manipulate the marketplace. You support it when you think it hurts the banks, but you can’t have it both ways and reality says not everything the Feds do will benefit the folks. We’ve seen plenty of evidence of that already.
Unless the Feds do something to allow credit unions to more directly compete, all you will see is money moving from bank A to bank B. And if you think banks can’t make changes to their fee structure that are hard to detect you’re not being honest with yourself. Slightly higher interest rates on loans, or lower on deposits, or changes to the multitude of costs associated with corporate accounts, all of which eventually are paid by consumers. Frankly I’m surprised they didn’t do that to begin with. We wouldn’t even be talking about it right now.
thats a good question. but if one does it, they all willl have to do it, so it wont be so ‘secret’. mom and pops banks are gonna make a comeback …
wet dream…
You will not be able to stop banks, of ANY size, from recovering the money your legislation took away from them. You will not see the increases they use to offset these losses.
This is what happens when you meddle in an economy. Not sure how many more examples you’re gonna need to see before it finally sinks in, but hopefully not many.
Organizers say they want to stop the “flow of capital.”
So, they shut down all importing and exporting at the Port there. That should do it…
And then, there’s their Mission Statement. Pretty loud and clear I’d day:
The day’s events in Oakland began with a rally outside City Hall that drew more than 3,000 people who spilled into the streets and disrupted the downtown commute. Protesters hung a large black banner that read: “Occupy Everything, DEATH TO CAPITALISM.”
And even more amazing, the other OWS Cities aren’t even rallying around OWS New York City as much any more, they’re rallying around Oakland. And why? Because Oakland’s in the mood for Destruction. Total and absolute destruction of the Capitalist System. And the city won’t even stop them, but rather encourages, and supports them – A recipe for disaster. Not the Country, but the City itself. Like watching a city commit suicide. And eventually, a city that will burn in its own fires. Ashes, ashes, we all fall down.
Welcome to Obama’s World.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/11/02/occupy-oakland-protesters-target-busy-port/
Death to capitalism – these idiots have no idea what that means. Be careful what you wish for.
They’re idiots, just trying to convince themselves that they’re part of something bigger. They are the 1%, because the other 99% won’t buy into their lunacy. If Oakland continues on it’s current course, I see a riot or riots in thier future. A real free-for-all could be shaping up for the city. And they’ll be lots of free stuff as the city burns for those who appreciate such opportunities. A World-Wide movement? Yeah, like Oakland’s the center of the World.
what a bunch of bullshit you fall for rw . oakland wants destruction? are u ass stupid as u seem or are u just baiting? i wonder … civil disobedience causes inconviences in commerce and traffic . thats why you get arrested for it . thats the point . just because u old ass teabaggers couldnt do anything without yer respirators doesnt mean tha movement will follow yer lead. yer rebranded far right wing has very lil support left while ows has 3 times that .u dummies are gonna have to realize that u overstepped what america wants and now u have a lil competition. lets see who wins. i hope some lefty money gets imjected into the movement and u get some real competition . would be hillarius. u have to realize that yer principals are shared by a minority of people under 50 . that matters during presidential elections which historically draw a much younger crowd than yer beloved midterms that u say proved something …
Protesters hung a large black banner that read: “Occupy Everything, DEATH TO CAPITALISM.”
Who’s full of BS here? Been there, done that. Already know the outcome. I’ve been through this drill before. If anything, I can only feel sorry for you. You’re being exploited and you don’t even know it.

It’s remeniscent of the 60s when “innocents” got caught up in the festivities as well, but I guess some just need to see it happen for themselves. Of course, there will be others that will be at fault for this as the protestors aren’t responsible for anything that happens, they’re just pure as the wind driven snow.
I am a little surprised that you are ok with the disruption and force . Its not true that civil disobediance has to disrupt like this . It should disrupt the lives of the ones protesting … and by their dedication … win others to their cause . This is not that

This is just the start, and it’s going to get nothing but uglier in this mess, how many “average people” did these assholes give assistance to yesterday genius? You know, your boss is probably pretty close to being in the 1% you guys hate so much, why don’t you give your new found compadres some business cards so they can have a new target to go after? Honestly don’t care what you do.
It was okay for GM too I suppoe, even though there were legal steps that could have been taken to keep the company afloat, same with Chrysler. But I guess the bondholders losing their investments in GM was okay with you, huh? I guess you also forget the large number of banks that didn’t want the funds, but were told they didn’t have a choice and were forced to take them. Did you forget that little detail EA? And what did the bailouts do? I guess you forgot the little detail about how some of them took the money and bought up smaller banks, making themselves even bigger, with taxpayer dollars funding their purchases. There were articles about it all over the place, guess you missed them, huh?

When you lay down with dogs, there’s a chance you’re going to get fleas. I guess, the folks in Wells Fargo branch where the windows were broken out are part of the 1% now. So are the folks in the Port of Oakland and the crew members of the ships that weren’t able to unload their cargo. Or maybe the cops who have to police theses clowns because they can’t police themselves. Or maybe it’s the small businesses that don’t know what’s coming next from the mob known as OWS )whereever). They aren’t doing themselves much good in the eyes of the 99% they claim to be “standing up for”, are they?

Good morning Gregg , it’s what the far right was saying the far left would do . I never knew if it had any legs . I am not worried , I just hope stronger help gets in the mix soon !
Good morning right back at you.
Not a surprise, given the groups that have been shown to be in “solidarity” with what is going on. I doubt that the majority of the folks in these crowds want to see violence and property damage occur, but when they start taking over buildings that don’t belong to them, they’re going down a road where nothing good is going to come from it. The only way you break up crowds with a smaller force is through the use of force, and inevitably, somebody is going to get hurt that was just an “innocent bystander”. I have a hunch these folks are going to find out there is no such thing as an “innocent bystander” in a mob.

Hilairous Mike, your wonderdful Governor CANNOT even keep his OWN company in the state. And is moving it to a state with a DEMOCRAT Governor………………………CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s Get to WOrk
As usual you didn’t read the story you just looked at the headline and made a fool of yourself AGAIN. I guess hook really did rub off on you
I did, as usual have NO IDEA what you are talking about. Tell me ole wise one, just what did I get wrong?
It’s disappointing that they’re moving,” said Scott, who founded the company in 2001 but sold his interest in it earlier this year. “I would like everybody to come to Florida. I believe that we have put ourselves in the position where this is the best state to build businesses whether it’s because of our triple-A (credit) rating, our beaches, our weather. Some people, I guess, don’t agree with me.”
You are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny Barb.
BUT BUT BUT, you are bitching about scott who no longer has an interest in the company and doesn’t make the choices. YOU ARE SUCH A HOOT. NOT
That is your answer……………….amazing and as always…………………CLASSSIC.
The point being, the company Mr Scott FOUNDED, and sold interests to HIS PARTNERS this year is MOVING out of the state where they former owner is GOVERNOR, and a state with total GOP Control and some on the best pro-business policies in the nation, and is moving to a state with a Democrat Governor.
But so nice to see you are on the attack today. Cool by me.
Doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have any interest invested in this company anymore. He DOES NOT MAKE THE DECISIONS FOR THIS COMPANY. You are bitching just to hear yourself bitch. You and hook but the “s” in stupid
but but. . .the democrats hate business. . .anti-business administration. . .why would a business move FROM a conservative state to a blue state?????
not exactly…democrats love ANYONE (business or not) that they can take money from.
It’s what they do.

“NO WAY this could be leaked by the PEOPLE INVOVLED or even HIS COMPETITORS for the nomination.”
——————–
Hey Bill, curious how you came to the conclusion that “no way” anybody else could have broght this forth. Are you saying it was his own campaign satff or supporters that leaked it? Where is your information coming from? If Politico would tell the whole story, and reveal it’s sources of information, we’d know who started this ball rolling. Thought you were all about “facts” Bill, this little piece of drivel doesn’t even get close to the op eds you constantly harp on us for posting. This comment isn’t anything but your own conjecture and conspiracy theory nonsense rolled into an attack.
___________________________________________________________________
Let me think Gregg, DOES “Those involved” ONLY INCLUDE the Herman Cain side……..think about it…………..the logic and obvious answer is NOT that hard to grasp.
Think hard………….now JUST WHO could be the those involved, if it is NOT the Cain camp……………come on, you can do it…….who is the other party INVOLVED??????????????
There ya go.
So I guess you meant that sarcastically? Those were your words Bill. How am I supposed to interpret the words “NO WAY this could be leaked by the PEOPLE INVOVLED or even HIS COMPETITORS for the nomination.”? To me that says there is no way these people could have leaked the info. I’ve heard both Romney and Perry’s name brought up in this matter, and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if it was one of them. It also wouldn’t surprise me if the Obama campaigns fingerprints are all over it either, because there have also been ties made to Rahm Emanuel in regard to it. I’ll make it simple for you to grasp my solution. Pay back the money from the settlement, ask to be released from the confidentiality agreement, and put the women out in the public eye for everybody to judge for themselves. Unlike the left in this country, I don’t have a problem with somebody who’s seeking elected office being vetted properly. What I don’t like is the rumors an innuendo that this seems to be generating even though Politico has the facts at their disposal (according to them).

Just saw some video and came to post it before going home . One man was afraid as the ows came around his car , one ows , pounded on the hood . The man in the car took off anf slightly wounded two protesters . THe police let him go , and I think that was correct to do

“what a bunch of bullshit you fall for rw . oakland wants destruction? are u ass stupid as u seem or are u just baiting?”

Gosh dude…I think it might be the molotov cocktails, or broken out store windows, or fights with cops, or the calls for people to “dox” the cops that just *might* be leading to everyone…well, everyone except you and Hook apparantly…to equating the OWS movement with violence.
Ya think?
Gotta go ! peace out , r

wet dream…
You will not be able to stop banks, of ANY size, from recovering the money your legislation took away from them. You will not see the increases they use to offset these losses.
This is what happens when you meddle in an economy. Not sure how many more examples you’re gonna need to see before it finally sinks in, but hopefully not many.

U guys said they will add extra fees . They tried and caved to the pressure . Seems like a victory to me /shrug
Maybe you missed the part about where the lost revenue was going to be added into other costs…whether you see those costs or not isn’t the point, the point is there will definitely be included…you just won’t see the line item.
…sounds like a phail to me
Perhaps some realistic light could be shed on the nasty old capitalist pigs if they were “forced” to all shut their businesses and corporate doors for a mere 60 days.
Hmmmm….. That would be most interesting.
Yep. All the nasty food stores like Food Lion, Piggly Wiggly, etc…
Yep. All those nasty Oil companies and their gas stations….
Oh, and don’t forget the Walmart, OfficeMax, Office Depot, all the hardware stores…
And those nasty companies that deliver fuel oil to homes…
Yep, that would do it alright. Of course all their employees would be without income for two months, but since they hate their “rich” bosses, it would be worth it in their minds…Right?
Looks like someone better think things through before they try to destroy those nasty ‘rich’ people. Tax the rich and they will be living in New Zealand.
I for one, would welcome a 60 day hiatus for all businesses just to make one helluva statement on what makes this Republic tick.
Perhaps law enforcement needs to take a 60 day vacation. Wouldn’t that be wonderful.
That’d certainly be interesting, but it wouldn’t take long for the OWS crowd to make themselves at home.
Go for it , sounds like camping to me
They won’t be living in new Zealand…. Good fear mongering though ..
Right they would move to New Zealand, where AS IN AUSTRALIA, the progressive tax code would mean they would pay MORE. I think that is a GRAND idea for then they could see how it WORKS in nation’s like that and see so much of this doom and gloom over American Taxation parroted by Fox and AM radio is so much nonsense. But again, before you say this, I think you better check the tax rates in New Zealand.
Income Tax rate Composite Rate
$0 – $14,000 10.5%
$14,001 – $48,000 17.5%
$48,001 – $70,000 30%
Over $70,000 33%
No-notification rate 45%
And before he sells his home, I would suggest they also look at the double taxation agreement that New Zealand has with the USA. Individuals who are tax resident in more than one country may be liable to pay tax more than once on the same income. New Zealand has double taxation agreements with various countries that set out which country will tax specific types of income.
So again, do it, think you will find as usual, the grass seems greener in other areas, untill you actually go there.
Cari, some awesome photos of the dogs and story……….cheers for that.
Whoopi Goldberg On Ann Coulter: ‘I Didn’t Know We Were Anybody’s Blacks!
The audience erupted with laughter as Goldberg added, “I mean, my god! I thought I was free but dammit — I found out again, — somebody’s got my behind!”
