Unless there’s something I don’t know, the lawsuits should be dismissed for lack of merit. You cannot lobby or conduct politicking and be tax-exempt…that’s the law as it currently exists for 501(c)(3).
If Fox were tax-exempt and they did that to Media Matters, that’s A-OK under current regulations. But as for claims that Obama is involved with Media Matters, I need to see solid proof beyond reproach, or it should be tossed in the trash.
If Media Matters’ tax-exempt status were yanked and Media Matters sued, I see Media Matters as likely winning its case.
In fact, T.E.A. Party orgs should be looking at the ACLU as an example of how to do this…one organization that educates and is tax-exempt, and another that lobbies and politicks that isn’t.

“The survey suggests there’s a reason independent voters favor the Massachusetts senator. And it has to do with the perception of Ms. Warren as a liberal Democrat. When asked what word first came to mind when respondents heard the name Elizabeth Warren, “liberal” was a top reply. On the other hand when asked what came to mind when they heard the name Scott Brown, “independent” and “fair/fair person” were among the top responses.
Mr. Brown is working hard to earn both those titles. He even invoked the name of late-Sen. Ted Kennedy in the most recent debate over whether religious institutions should be forced to provide contraception services to employees. In an email to supporters, Mr. Brown quoted a 2009 letter Mr. Kennedy wrote to Pope Benedict XVI which assured Rome that “conscience protection for Catholics in the healthcare field” would be a part of any national health-care policy.”

I guess I am misunderstanding you. Are you saying media matters SHOULD be tax exempt?
___________________________
You pull exempt status for the Media Research Center, Judicial Watch, and the Heritage foundation, and we will talk. Don’t include ANY of yours and sorry to say you come off as crybabies mad that someone is watching you. Get over it.
You mean agree with you, or I am hopeless. Guess I will be hopeless. The very vitriol and angst against Media Matters exhibited by the far rightwing parrots shows me that they must be effective. And I have seen them lambast CNN (Loesch) and MSNC (Buchanan) before. Sorry……..as I said……..you appear to be crybabies. I mean come on a NEWS NETWORK running headline stories about people being mean to them……Classic.
And please DO NOT stop, for we have seen very often, the more the rightwing whines about something (Glee, Ellen, MM, etc) the more it makes people want to check them out. Guess we should thank Fox for the free advertising.
Media matters started this. Fox and others are finishing it. MM hadn’t a leg to stand on in the beginning. They started working with the president to take down fox and are now on the defensive. Too bad, so sad. NOT
Sorry R10, from what I see, you call your actual combat vets (Dole, McCain, Powell, etc) RINOs. You laud those who were kicked out or resigned (Ollie North and Allen West), and your mouthpeices (Limbaugh, Hannity, Doocey, Kilmeade, Farrah, Geller, Gabriel, and gang) are a bunch of chickenhawks who NEVER spent one day in uniform, much less in combat. Sorry, R10, that is how I see it.
I have never heard her “LAUD” any other those people. You really need to back up your accusations or make yourself look foolish. The choice is yours but you credibility here is at stake.
Not her…….the far rightwing in general. Not in anyway R10………she is exceptionally rational and very open to other positions. Again, R10 apologies…..by “you”, I did NOT mean “you”. Broadbrush bit ME that time.
Sorry JG, got pulled away for a homework issue. But to your question:
Bolton: There are two outcomes, one is Iran getting its nuclear weapons, the other is Israel or somebody uses military force to stop it. That’s where we are.
Limbaugh: Let’s be blunt here: the only way to stop them is to destroy the Iranian regime, the mullahs, and that can only be accomplished through war. And by war I don’t mean ground troops; I mean massive bombing raids intended to destroy every one of the key targets.
Santorum: We will degrade those facilities through airstrikes, and make it very public that we are doing that,” Santorum said on “Meet the Press.”
Savage: This is the America — this is the America that those Islamic-fascist, robe-wearing, throwback bums have never seen!” Savage repeatedly said, “Let’s bring it on! Bomb Iran
Interesting that NONE of those four EVER served in a combat zone. Pretty easy to send others to war.
Will get more as soon as I finish some algebra……………..
You can’t argue with that. Doesn’t mean they want war, it just means they know there is no alternative. After years of sanctions that don’t work and how close iran is to a nuke warhead it is inevitable. No one wanted to go to war with germany either but genocide pushed them to it. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do for the good of all the people.
Now, we are back to the Hitler/Iran Comparrisons. Perhaps you can tell us of ONE territorial demand made by the Iranians. Perhaps you can tell us how nation that Iran has ever invaded. They are NOTHING alike………and attempts by the rightwing to link this to some kind of Chamberlain accomodation is based on falsehoods. But, anything to get people up for a good war. Especially when the majority of those backing the GOP position are TOO OLD to fight in it.
Here is an idea…………….you first. I will be right behind you all. But this time, you all calling for war, should be the first to go. IMO
And YES I can argue against it………I most definitely can. Even if they got one, historical precedence has proven we can contain nuclear threats, or even use continued sanctions to make them give them up (South Africa and Libya). We are sooooooooo far from it being a necessity to attack, I cannot put into words. IMO
I did, and find NO evidence of any genocide occurring in Iran……..sorry.
Put it this way, I think Iran is under MORE of a threat of attack than Isreal is. I do NOT see Iran nuking Isreal…….just don’t. Think they want a nuke so they can tell the NEOCONs of the world to take a hike. It is like everyone said if North Korea got the bomb…….they would use it and take over South Korea. Well, that did NOt happen. I see the same with Iran, sorry. And I cannot forget our abysmal….yes abysmal history of interfering in Iran over the last 50 years. Something many Americans do NOT even know about. Operation Ajax anyone?
I said candidates, very clearly. Only one of those fits the bill, and it certainly is not proof of your statement. Don’t waste your time or mine Bill. Just more hyperbole, which you bitch at others for.

Just really excellant Scott Brown used Ted Kennedy’s own letter to the pope about promising catholic conscience and the health care bill in his debate . T’nite wonder if Wolf will be all over anything But the economy and the health care burden on it in the next few years . Gas prices .

Whatever Bill, my question was very specific but as always you chose to take a left turn. You can’t seem to answer direct questions. Not a surprise and not an opinion, a fact.
Do you honestly believe that repeating the word “whining” means anything more to me than you really don’t know how to debate past a second grade level?
“President Obama didn’t invent the practice. FDR used it to great effect and President Nixon is reported to have used earmarks to help win support for re-election by sending funds to key states or voting blocs.
But President Obama has vastly expanded the practice.
Numbers from the non-partisan Congressional Research Service show that the value of administration earmarks under President Obama increased by a 126 percent in his first two years in office and the actual number of administrative earmarks increased by 54 percent.
Those are dramatic increases that are 11 times more than Congress itself increased earmarks, which the White House did not explain today.
It also does not square with statements the president is against earmarks, which he and his administration appear to have used to great effect and with increasing frequency.”
— Yep, Obamacare and Cap and Trade are SOOOOO good that Obama had to buy off members of his own party to get their votes.
A rightwing Heritage report lauded on Fox, and of course Barb buys every bit of it. Dimes to dollars you did NOT even look at the report. Fox says jump, you say how high, shrug.
This would be comparable to CNN headlining a report from Think Progress. But then again, being a NEWS network and not a rightwing National Enquirer like Fox, I doubt they would.
What is next Fox, goind to start running American Thinker Op Eds direct.

Oh sure Mr. Aztek…and the repeated failures of this philosophy throughout history in real world application mean what in your mind? That we need to do it again? …That you know history and economics better than someone looking right the evidential numbers that show otherwise?
Go ahead sir, justify all of this Keynsian theory through a historical lens of “successes”
Keynsian theory….anti-American……apology tour…….race war…….class war. Wow, you are certainly the soundbyte machine lately. Do you have any catchphrases of your own.
Not Keysian economics…..it is called taking steps to ensure that the NATION continues to run. Sometimes I think some of you far righties consider yourselves Capitalist First, and Americans second. Our economic system is NOT based entirely on one theory or another. The genius of Americans is we can use the applicable and appropriate portions of ANY theory to meet the challenges we face that day. It is the far rightwing almost religous devotion and unquestioning belief that business will always do what is right for the nation is just completely astounding.
So please………if that is your opinion, rock on. But understand you are convincing NO ONE, but those who ALREADY share your view. It is like you rightwingers only going to Fox and rightwing sites. It is like you have a pathological NEED for your view to be validate. Well, look somewhere else, for you will NOT get it here.
The nonsense coming out of D.C. these days isn’t even Keynesian any more. Keynes did not want the government to run the economy. His theory was that government should “fix” capitalism when necessary, not replace it.

You hardly ever are direct or answer directly , yesterday I posted and pointed out several times where you didnt even address what the poster said as you replied about a different topic . Slippery tactic , at first , but now its well known by all
You’re right here Lefty. Not a fair comparison. Most people understand that what Obama walked in to was much different than those two President’s in comparison. The more people out of work, the more people that need assistance. Many through no fault of their own. Some would even blame Bush for setting the stage. The Greatest recession since the Great Depression, doesn’t matter if you agree with it or not, comes with the terrority, and any such comparisons only weakens the argument of those who would use it. Sure, the man has been wrong on many different levels, but being the Food Stamp President? Looks purely Obama Bashing for the sake of Obama Bashing to most.
And fact check
But Gingrich goes too far to say Obama has put more on the rolls than other presidents. We asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition service for month-by-month figures going back to January 2001. And they show that under President George W. Bush the number of recipients rose by nearly 14.7 million. Nothing before comes close to that.
And under Obama, the increase so far has been 14.2 million. To be exact, the program has so far grown by 444,574 fewer recipients during Obama’s time in office than during Bush’s.
It’s possible that when the figures for January 2012 are available they will show that the gain under Obama has matched or exceeded the gain under Bush. But not if the short-term trend continues. The number getting food stamps declined by 43,528 in October. And the economy has improved since then.
Obama’s radical increase in Food Stamp recipients is just a myth…Sorta like inflation and high unemployment are just myths under his watch.
Parse the numbers and make excuses all you want…Facts are facts. More people in poverty and on food stamps under Obama than any other president.
I get that it’s tough to be a liberal in times like this, and I’m sure the level of twisting and deflection that you must do to try and make Obama’s economic policies look good must make your joints ache…but let’s BS the forum because of it, ok Mr. LeftyBill?
”
“The world needs to stand up and say that a man cannot be put to death because of his faith,” said Jordan Sekulow, executive director of The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) “
You can tell the President will win re-election by the almost downright fear and panic I get from the far righties here…………..and you know what…….you should be………..he is going to own you all in November, no matter how much your wealthies Super PACS put into it. No matter how much data manipulation Fox and the other rightwing blogs put out. No matter how often you slip innuendo and rumors (Muslim, Kenya, etc) into the rightwing blogs.

What about if they politik for a particular party?
They’re not doing that either, based on what I have read. The AmSpec article doesn’t show sufficient evidence.

That is an excellent point R10. That is why we are doing a major push to get Dems to the polls. And also why I think the GOP has been waging war on voting rights. IMO

Left wing “logic”
You need ID to- cash a check, drive a car, take out a loan, buy a gun, have a credit card, collect welfare benefits…and so many others.
but it’s “war on voting rights” is someone suggests needing an ID to vote.
…do you ever look in the mirror and laugh hystericaly at yourself after making posts like that?
War on voting rights????
surprusing the lefties talking points arent calling it “rape” of voting rights . They are trying to scare women after all ..
Yeah, a war. Restricting when students can register. Not allowed to register at the polls, and the voting fraud boogeyman. Think you all are AFRAID of the voters. If the USA had mandatory voting like Australia where ALL those between 18-40 HAD to vote, I doubt the GOP would win another election. IMO
…and we think you are afraid of the possibility of losing voters who are in some capacity, not truly eligible to vote.
What other reason is there to oppose an ID for voting when you support ID for darn near everything else????
Sorry, but we will never agree on this one. You have no problem with any form of government continuing to constrict your freedoms, yet you complain when one additional requirement, which will help to eliminate fraud from something as important as the election process, may be required.
It’s funny how all those disenfranchised people, the poor and the elderly according to the left, can make their way to Atlantic City from all over the tri-state area, yet they can’t get a voter id in their own town.
Explain to us how the gop is taking away voter rights?
Trying in Maine to get rid of same day registration and voting.
That’s taking away the right to vote?
Is requiring ID also taking away the right to vote?
And the under 30 are the most unreliable
Yeah…and to carry this to a win, all liberals have to do is get voters to ignore the economy…

Yeah…and to carry this to a win, all liberals have to do is get voters to ignore the economy…
Interesting chart Obama Does……..you do realize the last entry is 2007, and the President took over in 2009? Just asking.
But nice to see the Heritage graph watcher is on the case.
True, but the Dems took over Congress in 2006.
touche!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yada, yada, yada…….yawn. Vote for who you like and I will as well.
we know…even if it means installing people who trash the economy in favor of ideological purity…
Good on ya for being consistent Mr. LeftyBill.
Whatever you say you unbaised independent. Actually the thought I am cancelling out your vote with mine gives me joy.
Truth hurts sometimes, doesn’t it Mr. LeftyBill?

With Israel and Iran exchanging accusations of assassination plots, some analysts see a danger of blundering into a war that would inevitably involve the United States.
Echoes of the period leading up to the Iraq war in 2003 are unmistakable, igniting a familiar debate over whether journalists are overstating Iran’s progress toward a bomb.

Enough for what……..to convince me to vote GOP……..NOPE. But keep trying if it makes you feel better.
Oh no sir…not trying to convince you to vote GOP. I’m not a miracle worker and I don’t advocate for the GOP anyway.
…a simple acknowledgement that the numbers seem to show your liberal economic philosophies are failures would be good though.

Every group is who and what they say they are except MM. If you cant see that , no hope for ya
If that is the case, the evidence would be self-evident.
unless the self is evidence challenged
WHat ? Employees OF MM are the whistle blowers . You can look it up …
And when we’ve brought up stuff from ex gop folks they sat its just some disgruntled ex employee
Media matters started this. Fox and others are finishing it. MM hadn’t a leg to stand on in the beginning. They started working with the president to take down fox and are now on the defensive. Too bad, so sad. NOT
Still waiting for proof of the hunger for war comment Bill….
………… maybe he went to look for it .
Of course they want war. No conservative, Republican, or Tea Partier have sons and daughters serving in the military.
Your first mistake is assuming I have a mouthpiece instead of a brain.
By “YOU” I meant the rightwing in general…..not “YOU” R10. Worded badly, my apologies.
From lb to R10 = You laud those who were kicked out or resigned.
Hum, doesn’t look that way.
I’d tell you what to do with that broad brush but I’d get myself tossed into time-out
Off to do some cooking…….ciao for now!
VERY fair enough R10. G’Day
Sorry JG, got pulled away for a homework issue.
IMO
again, you didn’t read. Why do we even debate you. Reading is fundamental lb. Learn how to do it.
If you had read it then you wouldn’t have taken it out of context. I know you are not that stupid. Well, at least I think you are not stupid
I said candidates, very clearly. Only one of those fits the bill, and it certainly is not proof of your statement. Don’t waste your time or mine Bill. Just more hyperbole, which you bitch at others for.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/02/21/report-finds-spike-in-earmarks-to-democratic-lawmakers-during-controversial/?test=latestnews
From your article:

Really Mr. Bill?
Can you explain to the forum how noting Mr. Obama’s use of Keynsian theory is mere “sound bites”?
O-M-G
Do you even bother to study what you’re commenting on here???
“Not Keynsian”
No wonder we’re in the situation we’re in…We have folks like you never bother to learn about the stupid azzed theories they “support” Mr. LeftyBill.
The nonsense coming out of D.C. these days isn’t even Keynesian any more. Keynes did not want the government to run the economy. His theory was that government should “fix” capitalism when necessary, not replace it.
And yet when applied by the biggest supporters of his theories, it ended up BREAKING capitalism.
Go figure, huh?
Yeah, Keynes had it wrong for sure, aided by the “interpretation” of his theories.

Note the radical increase in those needing Food Stamps under Mr. Obama.
Is it still “about the economy, stupid!” ?
You can keep posting this Heritage crap until you are blue in the face, not convincing anyone. But rock on, I guess it makes you feel good.
No…he’s wrong.
Obama has done little but increase poverty, debt, and food stamp usage.
We can either face reality, or parse numbers and make excuses. Everyone chooses their own path I guess…
…almost 4 years later and the “blame Bush” card is still being played???
Nice…
As to your BS data………………to add salt to the wound, think I will allow Media Matters to rebut the daily talking points.
Dishonest Fox Chart: Food Stamps Edition
http://mediamatters.org/blog/201201270010
And the economy has improved since then.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/story/2012-01-18/fact-check-gingrich-obama-food-stamps/52645882/1
So in other words……..pffffffffffffffffffffftttttttttttttttttttttt
Sure Mr. LeftyBill…
LeftyBill?
