They also should be pulling media matters tax exempt status. There are going to be law suits so in the end they will but it shouldn’t be like pulling teeth to have it done. If it was fax that was tax exempt and they declared war on media matters with the president involved it would have been taken away within seconds.

Unless there’s something I don’t know, the lawsuits should be dismissed for lack of merit. You cannot lobby or conduct politicking and be tax-exempt…that’s the law as it currently exists for 501(c)(3).
If Fox were tax-exempt and they did that to Media Matters, that’s A-OK under current regulations. But as for claims that Obama is involved with Media Matters, I need to see solid proof beyond reproach, or it should be tossed in the trash.
If Media Matters’ tax-exempt status were yanked and Media Matters sued, I see Media Matters as likely winning its case.
In fact, T.E.A. Party orgs should be looking at the ACLU as an example of how to do this…one organization that educates and is tax-exempt, and another that lobbies and politicks that isn’t.
I guess I am misunderstanding you. Are you saying media matters SHOULD be tax exempt?
Unless they have done something to actually violate it, yes.
The only things that constitute violation of it are:
1. Lobbying for laws
2. Politicking for a particular candidate
3. Disseminating information to a candidate that is also not then disseminated for public consumption.
Unless something you claim falls under that category, your problem is with the law as currently constituted. So no, you didn’t misunderstand me.

Under current tax structure, that’s okay…UNLESS…information is being disseminated only for their consumption. Any investigation should be scrapped unless an actual violation shows…or use their money and not MY taxes.

Actually I think it is. Seniors are the strongest voting bloc in the country.
That is an excellent point R10. That is why we are doing a major push to get Dems to the polls. And also why I think the GOP has been waging war on voting rights. IMO
But I will take that risk. And I think it is very telling that the majority of people who will have to live with those policies the longest, pretty much reject the rightwing message. Sorry, I think this is the last gasp for the old WASPs.
And I think it is very telling that when confronted with this wide range of opposition, not only do we have a rightwing war on voting rights, but we have had a conservative SCOTUS pass a ridiculous law allwoing unlimited money going to campaigns. Sorry, but we will never agree on this one. You have no problem with any form of government continuing to constrict your freedoms, yet you complain when one additional requirement, which will help to eliminate fraud from something as important as the election process, may be required.
It’s funny how all those disenfranchised people, the poor and the elderly according to the left, can make their way to Atlantic City from all over the tri-state area, yet they can’t get a voter id in their own town.

After years of sanctions that don’t work and how close iran is to a nuke warhead it is inevitable. No one wanted to go to war with germany either but genocide pushed them to it. The genius of Americans is we can use the applicable and appropriate portions of ANY theory to meet the challenges we face that day. It is the far rightwing almost religous devotion and unquestioning belief that business will always do what is right for the nation is just completely astounding.
So please………if that is your opinion, rock on. But understand you are convincing NO ONE, but those who ALREADY share your view. It is like you rightwingers only going to Fox and rightwing sites. The nonsense coming out of D.C. these days isn’t even Keynesian any more. Keynes did not want the government to run the economy. His theory was that government should “fix” capitalism when necessary, not replace it.
And yet when applied by the biggest supporters of his theories, it ended up BREAKING capitalism.
Go figure, huh?
Yeah, Keynes had it wrong for sure, aided by the “interpretation” of his theories.

You’re right here Lefty. Not a fair comparison. Most people understand that what Obama walked in to was much different than those two President’s in comparison. The more people out of work, the more people that need assistance. Many through no fault of their own. Some would even blame Bush for setting the stage. The Greatest recession since the Great Depression, doesn’t matter if you agree with it or not, comes with the terrority, and any such comparisons only weakens the argument of those who would use it. Sure, the man has been wrong on many different levels, but being the Food Stamp President? Looks purely Obama Bashing for the sake of Obama Bashing to most.

Obama has done little but increase poverty, debt, and food stamp usage.
We can either face reality, or parse numbers and make excuses. Everyone chooses their own path I guess…

Bush the number of recipients rose by nearly 14.7 million. Nothing before comes close to that.
And under Obama, the increase so far has been 14.2 million. To be exact, the program has so far grown by 444,574 fewer recipients during Obama’s time in office than during Bush’s.
It’s possible that when the figures for January 2012 are available they will show that the gain under Obama has matched or exceeded the gain under Bush. But not if the short-term trend continues. The number getting food stamps declined by 43,528 in October. And the economy has improved since then.
